Being members of the North and East Midlands Photographic Federation and affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, members have the opportunity to participate in regional and national exhibitions and have access to high quality lecturers and judges. Over the years Friendships have been made with members from other photographic clubs and societies, ( including Worksop, Warsop, Isle of Axeholme, Doncaster, Lincoln, Ashby and further afield in Bolsover and Ripon ), through inter-club competitions and portfolio exchanges. For over 20 years meetings were held in the Denman Libary after which we moved into the Old fire Station with the Retford Arts Society. From 1989 our meetings were held in the Village Hall in Sutton - cum Lound until 1997 when we moved yet again to Ordsall Church Hall where meetings are held on Monday evenings at 7.30pm. The annual exhibition was held for many years in the Denman Libary but is now held every spring in the Percy Laws gallery at the Retford Museum. This gives the members the opportunity to show their work to the general public, schools parties and visitors to the town. Many actives take place such as practical sessions in portraiture, still life, landscape, natural history and digital imaging. Outings have also taken place to the National Museum of Photography in Bradford and outings to other locations so members can use their cameras. There have also been one day photographic schools where we have enjoyed the company of many notable photographers including Charlie Waite, Jim Joyce and Robert Scott ( an editor of the Practical Photography magazine.)
